Garrett Hamilton, CEO
Garrett Hamilton has over 15 years of behavioral healthcare experience. He has dedicated his professional career to creating systems of care that provide efficient and effective services. Garrett has worked in the marketing, risk management, admissions, direct care, and operations fields at the community based services, group home, and psychiatric hospital levels of care. In addition to his professional positions, Garrett has served on a variety of non-profit boards, as well as local, regional, and state level advisory and planning committees.
Paula Roberts RN, BSN
Paula Roberts joined the team at Cumberland Hospital in March 2000 where she is currently the COO. She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from University of Phoenix and has experience as a psychiatric technician and RN in adult psychiatry. Before becoming CNO at Cumberland, Roberts held the positions of staff nurse, nurse manager and assistant director of nursing.
As someone who has always wanted to work with children, Roberts is passionate about helping the kids at Cumberland. She loves her patients and she’s proud to be part of a staff who gives their all each day. When not working, you can find Roberts cooking, hunting for antiques and spending time with her family
Jennifer Rice PsyD
Jennifer Rice PsyD
Adolescent Girls Program
Hailing from Williamsburg, Virginia, Jennifer Rice joined the team at Cumberland Hospital in 2008. She worked at Cumberland before graduate school, coordinating clinical services in other residential programs. She then earned a doctorate in psychology from Florida Institute of Technology and is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Virginia.
Passionate about helping people heal and recover to develop a life worth living, Rice enjoys being part of the team at Cumberland, helping staff and patients meet their potential and get excited about their life and job. When not busy working, she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, hiking and animals. Her husband is also in public service, and she has three stepdaughters and a daughter.
Dr. Brett Sharp, Medical Director
Dr. Brett Sharp
With a focus on wellness, Dr. Brett Sharp specializes in treatment of the mind, brain, and body through a skillful blend of expertise in both pediatrics and psychiatry care. By reducing stigma and eliminating barriers, Dr. Sharp relies on evidence-based treatment, judicious medication management, and innovative care delivery to achieve stabilization and patient success. Anchored in both modern medicine and holistic wellness, Dr. Sharp’s comprehensive treatment model is particularly effective for children with complex illnesses, chronic medical conditions, and neurological or developmental challenges. By treating the whole person and affording dignity and respect to all, Dr. Sharp’s patient and family centered philosophy has been shown to improve outcomes for physical and behavioral health diagnoses.
Dr. Sharp is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Sharp attended the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed post graduate training at University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in combined pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychiatry. Dr. Sharp also holds a bachelor of science from Utah State University and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association.
Heather Seward, CFO
Heather Seward joined Cumberland Hospital in November 2005 and currently serves as Cumberland Hospital’s Chief Financial Officer. Prior to promotion to CFO, she served for many years in the Assistant Controller role. Heather earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from Christopher Newport University and immediately began building a career in financial leadership. When not working, Heather enjoys cooking and spending time with her family.
